About Our Conductor

Music Director Barbara Freedman joined the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department Band in May 2005, and was proud to lead the band in its 50^th anniversary season. Under her leadership, the band's musicianship has flourished, and we hope to continue that momentum with this next concert season!

Ms. Freedman is the Director of Electronic Music and Audio Engineering at Greenwich High School.  She is also the faculty advisor to the Peer Mentor service group and the Nu Musik Club.

Ms. Freedman has conducted several community and professional bands, orchestras, and operas in the tri-state area. She is also an accomplished professional percussionist who freelances with many different organizations, including regular appearances with the Bridgeport, Greenwich, Norwalk and Ridgefield Symphony Orchestras.
